In that representation of the final comp , only the lowest half is true . The original shot tilted up from the soldiers to the top of the wall and Rodeo FX had to continue the movment to reveal the landscape and the majestuous city . Once the camera was tracked and its movment completed in 3D , matte painting TD Jeremy Boissinot gave me a wire layout covering the whole shot with benchmarks like the wall , the ground , cards simulating bodies spread in the distance and the skydome . I had really strong references in position , scale and perspective to extend the wall and paint the landscape in Photoshop .The matte painting was then cam-projected in Softimage and rendered through the shot camera before comper Philippe Thibault added "life" to it .
