Here is a classic case of restore task for matte painters . Starting from a nowdays plate of Jerusalem ( bottom left ) , I was asked to erase the scaffoldings of the Holy Sepulchre tower , as well as all antenas that were not supposed to be in the late 1940's . I first tried to find pics of the monument without any scaffoldings , in the right camera angle and lighting conditions . Unsuccessful ! I decided to reproduce it with Cinema 4D to keep a perfect control of perspective ( pic B ) . 3D also helped me to suppress undesired blocs in the original shot , replacing them with modules of houses and roofs I had created for a previous shot . Going back to Photoshop , I blended the CG and the plate , used the clone tool to complete the restore job and brought down the horizon to improve the depth .
